In 2004 and 2007, BBC Radio Scotland broadcast Bill’s own stories of his fifties
childhood, ‘Tales from the Back Green’. Described by the press as a ‘vividly engaging
portrait’ these were published by Hodder and Stoughton in August 2008.
The book immediately rose to the top ten in the best sellers lists published in ‘The
Independent’ and reached number 2 in the Scottish lists published in ‘The Herald’.
An abridged CD is also available from Hodder and Stoughton Audiobooks.
